HIV FARM PROJECT
CABSA and CHABAHIVA are equipping a group of farm workers as peer educators in a multi-year programme in selected districts in the Western Cape.
De Doorns Farming Community HIV workshop
CABSA trained Peer Educators in De Doorns, Western Cape. After the training, the Peer Educatiors brought to our attention, the need to have a HIV workshop in the community. These are the people that attended the workshop with Aneleh and Clive as facilitators amongst them. We are greatful to have seen the amount of people that showed interest on the day
Peer Educator training, Caledon
12-14 Feb & 19-20 Feb 2019
CABSA’s Farm project is focused on training farmworkers to become Peer Educators so that they can share their knowledge of prevention, eradicating stigma and be a support to those living with HIV. We had the opportunity to train Peer Educators in the Caledon area. CABSA is not new to the faith community in the Caledon area; however, we had to network to get the training going, as we are totally unknown to the farming community in Caledon. One of the newly trained Peer Educators said the following; “We must be God’s presence as we help others” We want to thank CHABAHIVA for enabling CABSA to roll out as life changing and lifesaving message to our farming communities.
28-03-2019 De Doorns one day youth workshop
CABSA and the Community Chest of the Western Cape collaborated to have a one-day HIV workshop in De Doorns. The day was eventful as we had a very energetic group consisting of 36 young men and women ranging from the age of 14 to 19. We drove back to Cape Town very exhausted but a great sense of achievement. We need to equip and empower our youth to make informed decisions regarding their lives and their health.
Wellington Refresher Training 2020
The Wellington Peer Educator Refresher training took place at the Dutch Reform North Church on the 17-18 August. This was the first time since lockdown that the group met. Huge excitement was among the group, but the social distancing took away that warm embrace that we so use to at these gatherings.
We want to remember our fallen friend, Willem Swarts, who passed away due to COVID19, He was one of the very First Peer Educators trained under the Farm Project and have been a worthy Peer Educator
